Latest Updates from Our Project:

It's the 20th why didn't the pledge manager open yesterday!?
about 3 years ago – Wed, Apr 21, 2021 at 04:43:16 PM

Morning all, we were aiming to have the pledge manager open yesterday, unfortunately, we are still waiting on Kickstarter to transfer all your pledge details.  Hopefully this will happen today as it is all we are waiting for with the rest of the pledge manager ready to go. We received confirmation on Sunday from Kickstarter that they had completed their bit, so it is just a timing issue.

I will send out a longer update later today explaining how the pledge manager works so everyone is ready once it opens.

New Packs in the Pledge Manager

While we wait here is something new which Paul and I have included in the pledge manager.

Adding the Outlaw List to the Death and Taxes book means there is a need for new troop types, Sherwood Slingers and Outlaw Signallers. Having created these new packs after the Kickstarter ended Paul and I couldn't wait to make them available for the campaign book, so we have included them for backers as add-ons in the pledge manager.  If you add these packs to your pledge you will be the first to get your hands on them as they have a release date of 2022.

Physical Villages

If your intention is to add the physical village of Wimentun in the pledge manager, and we haven't discussed it, please get in touch with me via messenger as all 75 of the initial villages have been allocated.  We will do our very best to accommodate you.

There will be a further update later today explaining how the pledge manager works and my intention is to keep you fully informed until we are ready to go.  Won't be long now!

Stay Safe!

The Barons' War 3 - The Details (21st March 2021)
about 3 years ago – Sun, Mar 21, 2021 at 02:47:23 AM

With our third The Barons' War campaign accepted by Kickstarter, Paul and I are putting the finishing touches to another 'labour of love' ready to go live almost a year after BW2, on Sunday the 21st March 2021.  As you have already graciously supported us, we think you deserve to be the first to see the pledges.

This time around we are bringing a complete campaign setting to Kickstarter inspired by the playsets of our childhoods. It is the first for The Barons' War and we are hoping that with your backing we can make it happen.

DEATH AND TAXES THE CAMPAIGN

In the village of Wimentun, we find ourselves, a berewick of the King's manor of Duneham-on-Trent, administered by Philip Mark de la Mare, High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the Royal Forests and his deputy Eustace de Lowdham, the Sheriff's hatchet man.

Initially appointed by King John, Philip was not a popular man; he and his relatives were judged a "bad lot" with the whole family mentioned explicitly in the Magna Carta. At Runnymede, King John agreed to many clauses, but clause 50 specifically called for his family's end.

Rebel forces have recently taken control of this area, including Wimentun, and are now asking for taxes to be paid.  The villagers who are supporters of the crown have recently paid taxes to King John, therefore, resisting paying for a second time. Unfortunately for the locals accompanying this request for further taxes has been the threat of their village being burned to the ground if payment is not made.

"You must pay up if you want to enjoy the new King's peace", the Sheriff had said.

With a Civil War raging in England and the rebels with the upper hand due to Prince Louis joining the fight from France this is where our campaign starts...

Death and Taxes will be a PDF campaign booklet providing a story, character background and scenarios in which to use the figures and terrain we are looking to fund during this Kickstarter. It will be a FREE reward to say thank you at the end of a successful campaign for all backers on completing their pledge.

The range of figures which we are aiming to fund focuses on the key antagonists from the campaign story with the rules for using them included inside the Death and Taxes digital campaign booklet. These new packs will also add Armoured Foot Sergeants, a Mounted Knight/Sergeant Musician, a Mounted Priest, Merry Men for Robin's band (or William of Cassingham) and Villagers to The Barons' War range.

To keep things straightforwards when it comes to the figure packs we have mirrored the same pledge levels as last time, these are:

THE BARON

This is the basic pledge level for this campaign. You get to choose the packs you want in white metal, then add up the total and pledge for that amount. You can choose one pack, two packs, ten packs - as many as you like!

You will also receive a PDF copy of the Campaign Booklet 'Death and Taxes' to be used with The Barons' War rules.

You are able to increase your pledge amount to add any figure packs including any unlocked stretch goals throughout the campaign.  If the campaign is successful you will also have access to the pledge manager.

As a reminder check the graphic below for details on how to change your pledge amount.

THE ANATGONISTS

You will also receive a PDF copy of the Campaign Booklet 'Death and Taxes' to be used with The Barons' War rules.

You are able to increase your pledge amount to add any figure packs including any unlocked stretch goals throughout the campaign.  If the campaign is successful you will also have access to the pledge manager.

We are sorry to say that we can not offer a resin figure pledge level as an alternative for this campaign.

THE VILLAGE OF WIMENTUN

With the campaign being set in the Village of Wimentun we really want to be able to offer the setting as terrain for your tabletop.  We thought long and hard about the best way to make appropriate terrain available and decided that the digital sculpting route was the answer.

The terrain the campaign scenarios will play out on is a big part of this funding campaign and is offered both physically and digitally.  Having created an English village of the period, we believe it can also be used for many different battles during The Barons' War not just 'Death and Taxes'.

Being digitally sculpted allows us to offer the terrain in two ways:

DIGITAL TERRAIN FILES (STL)

For those of you who have your own printer, we can deliver digital files saving you shipping costs and enabling you to print at will the items you personally need for your games.

 PHYSICAL TERRAIN

We have organised ourselves to be in a position where we can print the items for you offering physical products where a 3D printer isn't readily available. We are initially able to offer 50 of each of the following pledges.

If you want to back for both terrain and miniatures choose the terrain pledge either 'Digital Terrain Files (STLs), The Hamlet (physical terrain) or Wimentun Village (physical terrain)' pledge level and add extra to your pledge amount for the figures you want.  For example, to back for both The Village and The Antagonists choose the Village of Wimentun pledge level and add £60 to your pledge amount for a total of £260.

CAMPAIGN GOAL, STRETCH GOALS & ADD-ONS

We have set a campaign goal of £8,000 which is enough to have production moulds made for the initial release, produce the figures as well as start printing the physical terrain.  We also have a bunch of exciting Stretch Goals and Add-ons lined up ready to go, something we learned we needed from previous The Barons' War campaigns with the first of these being available at £10,000. These extras will all be figure packs.

BACK IN THE FIRST 24 HOURS

Seth Markgraf kindly offered his King John pledge miniature from BW2 to help us with this campaign.  We've chosen to make it available to anyone who backs during the first 24 hours. It will be included in your completed pledge if we fund successfully. We will NOT be releasing this figure as it belongs to Seth.

SHIPPING

We'll be collecting shipping costs after the campaign finishes successfully and once you have finalised your pledges in the pledge manager.  We expect these costs to be the same as those currently used by Footsore Miniatures & Games at the time of shipping, towards the end of September 2021. We will modify the shipping cost for smaller pledges in the pledge manager where possible.

EU pledges via DDP

We will be shipping all EU pledges via DDP, delivered duty paid, which means not only will we arrange shipping we will also cover the handling charges and pay all taxes so you don't have to.

Barons' War 3 - Commencing on Sunday 21st March, 2021
about 3 years ago – Fri, Mar 12, 2021 at 10:06:26 PM

The success almost a year ago (April 2020) of our second Barons' War project has encouraged Paul and I to come to Kickstarter with a third project and this time we are bringing a complete campaign setting for The Barons' War - campaign booklet, figures and terrain!.

The Barons' War 3 - Death and Taxes campaign will again be a quick one, running for just two weeks from March the 21st to April the 4th, 2021. With most of the figures and all of the terrain already sculpted, we expect a well-managed turnaround for fulfilment for our third crowdfunding campaign. The figures will be cast, packed and shipped for us by Footsore Miniatures & Games, so you'll receive their usual excellent quality and great service.

The range of figures we are aiming to fund focuses on the key antagonists from our campaign story with rules for using them in The Barons' War game included inside the Death and Taxes digital campaign booklet. These initial new packs will add Armoured Foot Sergeants, a Mounted Knight/Sergeant Musician, a Mounted Priest, Merry Men for Robin's band, Villagers and Commanders to The Barons' War range.

Just 6 of the initial 10 packs that will be available when the Kickstarter launches

The village where "Death and Taxes" is set plays a big part in this funding campaign and will be offered both physically as printed resin and digitally as STL files for those who have a 3D printer. We have organised ourselves to be in a position where we can print the items for you offering physical products where a 3D printer isn't readily available.

Digital renders of some of the terrain

Being an English village of the period, we believe, we have created a really useful terrain set which can be used for many different battles during The Barons' War.

A shot of the Village of Wimentun physically altogether for the first time

We have also prepared a number of fabulous stretch goals, it wouldn't be a Kickstarter without them, focusing on further packs of Antagonists from the setting - we will be revealing more with another update during the run-up to launch.

The Falconer is Ben Checota of Badger Games' backer miniature from BW2 which we have been allowed to include during the campaign

Once again we are including the King John pledge level, this time it will be limited to four. We have included this opportunity as a result of so many requesting to have your own figure sculpted by Paul.

The "Death and Taxes" PDF campaign booklet

For now all that is left for me to say is please share with your friends and gaming buddies that The Barons' War 3 Kickstarter is going live on Sunday 21st March 2021 and it will include a FREE Death and Taxes PDF campaign booklet for everyone who backs us. Click to be notified on launch, now!

EU SHIPPING

To make it as simple as possible for our EU supporters we will be shipping all EU pledges via DDP, Delivered Duty Paid, which means not only will we arrange shipping we will also cover the handling charges and pay all taxes so you don't have to.

All Completed Pledges Have Left Footsore Miniatures & Games!
about 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 29, 2021 at 05:59:06 PM

Hello, I am so pleased to be able to say the final pledges submitted to Footsore Miniatures & Games, which were picked & packed last weekend, have been collected this morning for delivery. All backers with a completed pledge should now have recieved an email confirming despatch. With this final wave of UK orders physically shipping today, everyone's BW2 pledge is now on its way, with many having arrived already.  If you have received a despatch email but not yet received your pledge please be patient as all packages are now in the mailing system.

A fun fact, we have shipped 681 pledges, containing a total of 11,563 packs of miniatures which was a total of 34,689 individual figures (not including horses!). Phew!

What do I do if I have an issue?

If for any reason there is an issue with your pledge when it arrives I encourage you to contact Footsore Miniatures & Games, who carried out the mammoth task of fulfilling this project, they really are the best people to help you. Contact them via email at [email protected], please share as much detail as possible, who you are, BW order number if you have it and how they can help you will be useful information for them.

Not Yet Completed Your Pledge?

If you are one of the 21 backers who are yet to complete your pledge please, please, please can you pop onto the pledge manager and finalise everything?  Our intention is to complete and close out the BW2 Kickstarter on Sunday 28th February 2021 and after this date you will no longer have access.

You will know everything is completed when you reach the following screen:

Footsore Miniatures & Games to Stock BW2 Range

The Barons' War range at Footsore Miniatures & Games

We think it will come as no surprise to hear that Footsore Miniatures & Games have agreed to add the BW2 figures to The Barons' War range, they are looking at a mid to late March 2021 release on their website.  Footsore are also stocking the rulebook, both the PDF and the printed version, along with the full colour Action Tokens. If you haven't visited their website before it can be found by clicking here.

What's Next, BW3?

BW3: Death and Taxes going live March 2021

Work has started on 'BW3: Death and Taxes', which is the title of The Barons' War campaign we really want to deliver with our next Kickstarter. Going live Sunday 21st March 2021, our aim this time is to successfully fund a project to bring you a book containing new characters, new rules and a narrative campaign made up of a series of linked scenarios. The new figures will be the characters and forces featured, with buildings (both resin and digital files) making up the village of Wimentun where our story will be set.

Our first 'hovel' - painted, printed and rendered

Andy will be posting updates over on his Facebook page, in the new The Barons' War Facebook group and also on the WARHOST blog as things happen. So if you would like to be kept up to date it's where you will find all the latest news.

And finally, thank you very much once again for having the faith in us to deliver by backing the BW2 project, it has been a humbling experience and we hope you will join us for BW3.

With the world currently gripped by Covid-19 we want to finish by saying please keep safe!

Pledge Fulfilment Update & BW3
over 3 years ago – Tue, Jan 19, 2021 at 04:08:41 PM

Hello!  Almost three weeks into 2021 and we have the latest update for you regarding pledge fulfilment.  As of today, all far flung pledges, such as Australia and the Far East have left Footsore Miniatures & Games; they were despatched last week as they will take the longest time to arrive. Last weekend, the 16th January 2021, we picked and packed all the North American pledges ready for despatch. These are currently in the process of being booked out and will be picked up by the end of this week. This just leaves the UK pledges. Our plan is to pick and pack the remaining 262 pledges this weekend (23rd and 24th January 2021) despatching them before the end of January 2021 as promised.

As pledges are despatched you will receive email notification. Sending pledges in this order should see everything landing with backers around the same time and before the general release of the printed rulebook.

For backers who ordered a Trebuchet, they are being sent out separately over the next week from Sarissa Precision and will arrive independently of your main pledge. Due to the current situation in England, with us all being placed under severe restrictions, it has been easier for us to do it this way.

As said before if you have received your pledge, or when you receive your pledge, and there is an issue please contact Footsore’s customer support using the email [email protected]. They will help you out as quickly as they can.

If you are unaware of why there has been a slight delay to pledges and wondering why some backers have received theirs and you haven’t please click here to read this update it should explain everything.

Once again, Paul and I can't thank you enough for being really patient and understanding over the delay of one calendar month, it has really helped us to quickly turn things around.

The Barons’ War 3

The Merry Men of the Woods

If the slight delay hasn't put you off, please add Sunday 21st March 2021 to your diary as the go-live date for BW3. This Kickstarter will be focused around a campaign set of linked scenarios retelling a story for you to play through, where the results of one encounter will influence the next. There will be new miniatures to add to The Barons' War range, a campaign book containing the scenarios, plus new rules, and specific buildings and terrain features to capture the setting.

If you are currently poised waiting for BW3 to go-live this weekend, stand down, you now have a bit more time to save up and help us bring our next project to life.

As always if you have any questions please dont hesitate to get in touch either below or message me and I will answer as quickly as I can.

Stay safe
