Latest Updates from Our Project:

The end of 2020, The Barons' War Rulebook & the Future...well BW3!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Dec 30, 2020 at 06:51:46 PM

Hello and Happy Holidays to everyone I hope you are having a fabulous time and looking forward to the New Year, let’s hope it is better than the last one. As 2020 is drawing to a close I though you would appreciate an update.

Your Pledges

EU pledges that have left the building!

Currently after a few days off for Christmas the Kickstarter Team are back in beavering away creating packs of miniatures and prepping everything ready to start sending out all the none EU pledges by the end of January 2021.

The plan is to send the far flung pledges next, such as Australia and the Far East, as they will take a few weeks to arrive, followed by North America and then the UK.  Sending them in this order should hopefully see everything landing all at the same time, as the remaining pledges are despatched you will receive an email notification.

For all of you who ordered a Trebuchet, they are being sent out separately from Sarissa Precision and will arrive independently of your main pledge. Due to the current situation with us all being placed under restrictions it is easier for us to do it this way.

And finally if you have received your pledge, or when you receive your pledge, if there are any issues please contact Footsore’s customer support using the email [email protected] and they will help you out as quickly as they can.

If you are unaware of why there has been a slight delay to pledges and wondering why some people have received theirs and you haven’t please click here to read this update it should explain everything.

The Barons’ War Rulebook

Printed rulebook released through Footsore from early February 2021

Since we started sharing pictures and information about The Barons’ War rulebook there has been a lot of interest with many, many people asking where they can get their hands on a copy. With this in mind we have agreed with Footsore Miniatures & Games that it is OK to start offering the PDF for sale from the beginning of January 2021, as backers should have had a PDF copy for almost a month now. Lots of interest should mean more people for us to play against so we think it is prudent to have the rules available as soon as possible.

If you haven’t received your PDF copy of the rules you will need to complete your backer survey.  If you have then please log in to BackerKit pledge manager, you will be able to access and download a copy there.  If you have any issues please get in touch by dropping me a message.

With a delay to fulfilling all pledges we have also agreed to delay the release of the printed rulebook until early February 2021, making sure that you are the first people to receive a copy. That being said I wanted you all to know before it happened Footsore Miniatures & Games will be offering the printed rulebook on preorder from the beginning of January 2021. These preorders will not be shipped for at least a week after the last pledges have been fulfilled.

I also wanted you to know that Footsore Miniatures & Games have also commissioned a special miniature from Paul to be included with all preorders of the printed rulebook. They have agreed not to make this an exclusive and it will be added to The Barons’ War range once the book is released.

As you can see from their image above it is the Bishop of Winchester and rules for him will be available on www.warhost.online in due course.

The Barons’ War 3

Villages sculpted for the Barons' War 3 Kickstarter going live in March 2021

You may have read on social media that Paul and I had started to prepare for our next Kickstarter with a go-live date of Sunday 17th January 2021. If not you can find posts on my Facebook page about it, you will have to scroll or search for them though. As the BW2 Kickstarter hasn’t landed yet we have decided to press pause until Sunday 21st March 2021, this is now our new planned go-live date.  The simple reason for this change is we are not happy starting a new Kickstarter until we have fulfilled our existing one meaning all backers having received everything they are waiting for.

So if you are poised waiting for go-live in a couple of weeks, stand down, you now have more time to save up for it.

As always if you have any questions please dont hesitate to get in touch either below or message me and I will answer as quickly as I can.

Happy New Year! & Stay safe

EU & Resin Pledges have left the building!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Dec 19, 2020 at 02:59:43 AM

I just wanted to post a quick update to say that all EU & resin pledges have left Footsore Miniatures & Games this week. If your pledge is on its way, you should have received an email notification.

The second part of our plan is to continue to build new stock over the next three weeks, including Christmas week, and because of this commitment, I am confident all pledges will be fulfilled before the end of January 2021.

Once again thank you very much for your understanding and patience, both Paul and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Stay safe!

Important Update Regarding the Shipping of Pledges - please read!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Dec 08, 2020 at 12:57:06 AM

I was hoping today that we would be updating everyone with the news that their pledge had either left Footsore Miniatures & Games or been booked in to go on the 14th December 2020; unfortunately, this isn’t the case.

Having spent this last week carrying out quality checks prior to shipping pledges, I noticed that the quality of the metal castings was not of a standard that I would be happy to personally receive or willing to send out to backers. On further inspection and investigation, it transpires that Footsore Miniatures & Games has at some point received quite a large batch of substandard or even contaminated metal which looks to have been the cause for the poor quality.

16 of the 25 buckets of unusable metal castings

As this inferior metal has been mixed with good metal, all stock cast for the Kickstarter has been mixed together, making it very difficult to sort the suitable miniatures from the bad. As a result of this and with a heavy heart, I decided on Friday to halt all shipments so we could strip out all metal miniatures, a task which we carried out over the weekend.

So what does this mean going forwards? It means production of metal miniatures for the BW2 Kickstarter has had to start again which will delay the shipment of pledges; due to both the time of year along with the current Covid-19 working conditions. To help us, I have organised a night shift so production can effectively double in order to have replacements available as soon as possible.

Pledges will now be fulfilled in two phases:

Phase 1 by the end of December 2020

• All resin pledges regardless of backer location.

• All pledges placed by EU backers due to the uncertainties around Brexit.

Phase 1 will see all the resin pledges shipped as they have been mostly unaffected, all metal miniatures that are part of these 21 pledges have already been remade. All pledges that have been placed by backers who reside in the EU will be picked and packed this week with the goal of them leaving Footsore early next week. This decision was made due to the uncertainties around Brexit.

Phase 2 by the end of January 2021

• All remaining pledges - Rest of the World, North America and the UK.

As time is needed to create new stock for these pledges, we have extended fulfilment until the end of January 2021, which means we need an extension of one calendar month.

I realise this decision takes us a month over our estimated delivery date. However, I have made this call purely to make sure the metal miniatures are of a standard that I am happy to ship out to you. For that reason alone I hope you can appreciate the decision I have had to make and I hope you can understand why I made it.

If you have any questions or want to contact me to discuss you can get through to me directly via email [email protected] or my Facebook page. I will continue to update everyone as pledges leave.

The Barons' War rulebook PDF, WARHOST website & Pledge Update
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 25, 2020 at 03:38:56 AM

The Barons' War Digital Rulebook

The Barons' War rulebook PDF is on its way!

Hello everyone, I am very pleased to be able to say that once I have sent this update I will be pushing the button to send out the digital version of the rulebook via email to backers. It will be delivered via BackerKit to the email address that you used for the BW2 Kickstarter. If you haven't received it by morning it will be either because you haven't completed your survey and your pledge isn't locked or it could be your spam filter so make sure you check this too!

Thank you, everyone, for your patience in waiting for the digital book to arrive it is appreciated.

WARHOST (www.warhost.online)

The new home for The Barons War - www.warhost.online

To support the release of the digital rules we have created a new website to be The Barons' War home.  Not everyone uses social media, in particular Facebook, which was the driver behind a website being created.  What has gone live is a phase one, it needed to go live as it is referenced in the rulebook, and over the next few weeks and months we've planned lots of content to be added including videos.  What we do have from day one is a community forum (a first for me!), a couple of posts and a couple of downloads.

We also have completed army lists for Vikings, Late Saxons and Normans which will be made available very soon on the WARHOST website.

The Barons' War Facebook Group

The new Barons' War Facebook Group is now live!

As well as the new website going live we have also created The Barons' War Facebook Group.  Often requested since the initial Barons War Kickstarter, with the rules going out now seemed the right time.

Pledge Update

Last weekend we picked and packed all the pledges being sent to backers who are part of the EU.  With Brexit looming we wanted to be in a position to be able to make sure we can send EU pledges as a priority if needed. Packing will continue this coming weekend with a further two weekends planned in to do more of the same.  We are still on track, unless something changes, to have all pledges leave us next month so they can land with you before the end of the year.

And finally, last week Footsore Miniatures & Games were live with their monthly stream answering questions, if you missed it, the first 30 minutes is very much all about The Barons' War so worth a listen.

Keep safe everyone.

Rulebook, Tokens & Covid-19

The Barons' War Rulebook

The Barons' War Rulebook

Quite an exciting update today as we can share a mockup of the rulebook. The final tally is 142 pages (with a wraparound cover by Peter Dennis) which includes the rules (of course), retinue lists, a quick reference sheet (with page numbers), a glossary and an index!

George Asling and I are currently in the process of giving everything a final once over after which it will be sent to the printers. Our slot is booked in, and we have a quick turn around planned so we should have printed copies in about a week.

Once the book has left for the printers, I will send a digital PDF copy of the book to all backers via email.

Barons' War Tokens

Barons' War Tokens

We can also share that the full-colour Action Tokens have been printed and are ready to be added to pledges.  These have turned out to be better than I imagined and I imagined something special.  Printed on MDF, by Sarissa Precision, instead of on card they are really robust and I envisage them lasting many, many battles,

Covid-19 & Fulfilling Pledges

As the UK entered into a full lockdown today, I wanted to share with you how we believe it will impact the fulfilment of the Kickstarter for the end of the year. Footsore Miniatures is manufacturing the miniatures, and they are currently open as usual operating within the Government guidelines.  Luckily the majority of the production has been completed, and the miniatures have been packed ready to be picked.

However, the new guidelines do limit how many people can be on-site picking, packing and despatching the pledges.  Currently, we believe due to the work that has already been done; pledges will be ready to leave during December as scheduled. We plan to fulfil the pledges by geographical location, the furthest places first and then to focus on Europe so those pledges are on their way before the UK Brexits.  The overall plan is for ALL pledges to leave within days of each other and we are still on track, but if anything changes I will update everyone straight away.

If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch, the plan is for the next update to be me letting you know that your pledges are on the way!
